Welcome to the Moda Ceramics blog, where we can explore all things happening in the world of Interior Design, Architecture and Specifications in the UK. Since opening for business in the midst of a global pandemic, July 22nd 2020 to be exact, Moda Ceramics has proudly taken its place in the UK specification sector, and our stunning ceramic and porcelain tiles have been making their way up and down the country.

2020, The year of the Start-up

It’s been incredibly inspiring to see how many others took the plunge in 2020 to start their own business. It seems that even when faced with massive restrictions, human beings remain curious and find ways to break out and pave their own path.

In fact, according to smallbusiness.co.uk by October, 2020 was already a record-breaking year for start-ups in the UK with an extra 84,758 setting up compared to 2019.

The thought that so many Brits have dared to go it alone after their worlds have been turned upside down makes me feel part of something special. There is an underlying resilience and determination to succeed against all odds that bubbles below the seemingly endless rotation of walks and Netflix binges. People aren’t stagnating; people are creating.

So, why start a business during a global pandemic?

Lockdown 1.0 gave us an unexpected opportunity to look back on our personal journeys.

Our key workers were pushed to unbelievable extremes while the rest of us locked down at home to keep our NHS safe, and suffered boredom that spread as hard and fast as Corona itself.

The process of losing my job to the pandemic to becoming part of a start-up business took 4 long and anxious months. Bizarrely, now I couldn’t imagine it turning out any other way. Moda Ceramics wouldn’t exist had we not had the time to reflect and been forced to adapt. Instead, we’d still be on our individual paths, never having considered what we could achieve if only we had the courage to go it alone.

It seems that for us, as well as tens of thousands of Brits, a global pandemic was absolutely the right time to start a business. It was a gut decision, and I’m happy to say we’ve never looked back.

In it together

Here at Moda, we want to get the conversation started.

Be it over LinkedIn, Instagram, on the phone or, our personal favourite, with a coffee in hand on Zoom, get in touch!

We want to know what we can do to make your experience better when it comes to specifying ceramic and porcelain tiles for a design project. We’re not just here to shuffle papers, we are here to listen and act as a useful resource to make every design the best it can be.

The possibilities extend as far as your imagination.

2021 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for Moda Ceramics and as we edge ever closer to the 1st anniversary of Lockdown 1.0, we are so proud of the huge progress we’ve made so far.

We won’t be slowing down anytime soon!

We can’t wait to share our ongoing journey with you and, most importantly, to hear all about yours too.

Stay safe and a virtual hug from everyone at Team Moda.
